2013 ATA Show
Louisville, Kentucky
This past weekend SELFILMED.com turned heads with the use of their two Gini-Rig shoulder systems as they filmed new products at the 2013 ATA show in Louisville, KY. Gini-Rig has created the DSLR shoulder mount bringing cameramen and women superior quality and innovative design which surpasses any other mounting system on the market. A new company, based out of
Korea, Gini Rigs are constructed out of high-grade aluminum to give you longevity on your investment.
All parts of the Gini Rigs are tested and constructed by machinists using CNC machines. CNC Machining is a manufacturing process possible with almost any material and capable of holding tight tolerances. The acronym CNC stands for computer numerical control, which is an automated machining device operated by programmed commands encoded in its computer system. This devise provides the Gini Rig parts with precision engineering combined with perfectly accurate milling.
The sleek appearance and ergonomic design of these parts gives the perception of a wallet-emptying price, but this professional rig doesn’t break the bank. They are unparalleled in price vs. quality.
Gini promises that five quality standards are maintained, which include functionality, which makes it versatile; ergonomics, which reduces fatigue or discomfort; durability, outlasting its competitors; affordability, so it doesn’t empty your wallet and modularity, making their rig easy to assemble. SELFILMED’s founder Forrest Breedlove is a professional field producer whom is making a place in the Outdoor Industry with his creative filming techniques. Forrest says “my Extreme Pro is not only the best shoulder rig for the money, it’s the best shoulder rig period.” When you order a Gini Rig system you are going to get a number of clamps, rods, handles and arms. Each part feels strong and will last a lifetime. Gini-Rigs are actually fit to industry standards allowing you to fit them with any other industry standard product.
Gini’s follow focus reel has an attached gear wheels which allow you to micro-adjust your focus lense. The follow focus is quite large creating minimal play in the wheel. Known as the iFocus, its designed gears perform ultra smooth. It comes with a disc to place your focus marks. The gearing of the focus is incredibly sensitive which makes it perfect for fine-tuning depth of field. “The Gini-Rig follow focus has virtually no backlash in the gearbox. This provides a very positive feel in focusing as well as a
smooth focal departure and arrival on every shot.” Forrest said. The marking disk on the follow focus is connected by incredibly strong magnets securing it to the cylinder. The arm is adjustable, allowing users to flip the gear to the either side of the rig. There is very little backlash in the gear set of the Gini-Rig. The gear box is made of aluminum and can not be taken apart, which makes it very solid.
The leather shoulder pad provides comfort and support along with a counter weight comes which mounts it onto the rods to suit your personal position. The handles ergonomically fit around your hands. The grip is great and very professional, they attached with little clamps to the extra rod provided. The bonus is that it is adjustable in length and position depending on your personal preference.
All Gini Rigs are very well designed and built to last and will range in price based on accessories. The rigorous durability of the rigs provide quality performance for just about any situation. The joints and hinges are well built and very sturdy on all models.
You can find Gini-Rig products online for extremely low prices, making them even more consumer friendly. Made of machined aluminum, anodized coloring, detail, quality craftsmanship and a flat-brushed finish you won’t be disappointed with this limitless product.
