After releasing several new products in 2019, Grim Reaper did not release any new broadheads for the 2020 ATA Show. However there was some other big news.
For those that don’t know, 2019 saw a new entry in the record books. The Brewster buck was confirmed as the largest whitetail ever taken with any weapon, not just a bow. It bested the Beatty buck by almost 34 total inches. In addition to that accolade, it also was the third largest whitetail ever. The other two were bucks that were found dead. This buck was taken with none other than a Grim Reaper Whitetail Special. Like their slogan, Luke Brewster watched the buck drop after 30 yards.
While there aren’t new options, there still is an overwhelming amount of broadhead options to choose from. In total, there are more than 60 different variants of their broadheads, in both fixed and mechanical. These range in everything from 75 grains to 150 grains to suit almost every setup.
In their mechanical line, there are several technologically superior features that give better arrow flight, deeper penetration, and eliminate the risk of glancing shots at an angle. The over-the-top opening mechanism ensures the entry wound is just as large as the exit. This provides better penetration than other opening mechanisms. With broadheads that have over 3.5″ of total cutting surface, this can make some for some extreme blood trails.
For those angled shots, the main concern with a front-deploying broadhead is deflection. However, with the tips of the broadheads extending out substantially past the blades in combination of various extremely sharp tips this is a non-issue. Those of you that have seen their displays at shows will know how sharp these bad boys are: The typical display is a block of wood where the broadheads will securely stick with even the slightest drop.

The Mini-Mag that they came out with is a great head. Took my first Elk in Wyoming along with a nice 8 pt whitetail. This will be my go to blade moving forward
